Arthur Hartog Receives the 2026 IEEE Photonics Society Industry Achievement Award

FOSINA is proud to announce that our CTO and Co-Founder, Arthur Hartog, has been awarded the 2026 IEEE Photonics Society Industry Achievement Award.

The award recognizes Arthur for “demonstrating the first distributed fiber optic sensor and then continuously leading its development and commercialization into a globally deployed technology that transformed industrial monitoring across energy, infrastructure, and environmental applications.”

.

While this prestigious recognition highlights an extraordinary career spanning more than four decades, those of us at FOSINA witness every day what the award citation cannot fully capture: Arthur’s relentless drive to innovate.

His vision, scientific expertise, and technical leadership continue to shape the distributed sensing technologies we develop and deliver worldwide. From DAS, DTS, DSTS, and hydrophone systems monitoring pipelines, subsea cables, power grids, wind farms, railways, and other critical infrastructure, Arthur’s influence is embedded in the solutions trusted by customers across the globe.

More importantly, Arthur remains actively engaged in advancing the next generation of distributed fiber optic sensing. Behind every interrogator we design and every innovation we bring to market are ideas, insights, and breakthroughs that he continues to pursue alongside our exceptional team of engineers and scientists.

This award celebrates not only a pioneering achievement that founded an industry, but also a lifetime commitment to pushing the boundaries of what distributed sensing can achieve.

Congratulations, Arthur, on this well-deserved recognition. We are proud to continue building the future of distributed sensing with you.
