FOSINA: Fibre-Optic Sensing with Intelligent Native Architecture
FOS ( Greek, φως)
- Light
INA ( Greek, ίνα)
- Fiber
What we do
FOSINA uses the natural processes that occur when light propagates in an optical fibre to sense the environment at all locations along the fibre. The very small proportion of light that is lost at each point along the fibre provides FOSINA with the signals that are analysed to understand the spatial distribution of temperature, strain and acoustic signals over very long distances
Our goals
Fosina is a global provider of proven technology, and offers a sustainable future for the industry. Our team has a combined experience of more than 100 staff-years in distributed fiber optic sensing technologies. We define and drive high customer performances, sustainably in many applications.
Our world leading experts, including our CTO, Dr Arthur Hartog, have designed, built and delivered over 10,000 distributed fiber optic systems globally to monitor temperature, strain and vibration.
Enable
Existing telecoms infrastructure as a sensor network
Improve
Leading performance such as sensitivity, spatial resolution and range at lower cost.
Ease of use
Best in class platform to allow real-time monitoring of assets and proactive intervention to address customer challenges using advanced machine learning
Our strength, Our footprint
Our sales team is present globally to better support locally our clients.
Our team has deployed over 10000 systems over several decades in most countries around the globe. We are supporting our clients by providing project
management, installation and
commissioning of our best in class
distributed fiber optic sensing portfolio.

Arthur H. Hartog patented with David Payne the first distributed temperature sensing system.
After 38 years of inspiring the industry, the academic, leveraging the fiber sensing solutions by developing and commercializing key innovations such as DAS, DTS and DTSS in the oil and gas industry, Arthur co-founded FOSINA and is serving it as CTO.
FOSINA releases its first DxS which combines decades of experience in industrializing distributed fiber optic sensing systems.
“Quality is the baseline of Fosina”
- A FOSINA client
We must provide our customers products and services that meet their demands of today and their expectations of tomorrow, while respecting the various regulations in force.
Our performance should be measured whenever possible, in order to ensure that it improves, especially related to the market. Our working methods are designed to evolve accordingly.
UNITED NATIONS OBJECTIVES
Fosina designs breakthrough solutions in perfect alignment with United Nations sustainability development goals.
We use existing telecommunication fiber and convert them as a sensor to build resilient infrastructures and prevent fatal injuries.
We digitalize the public transports, infrastructures and cities by enabling monitoring of events such as road traffic monitoring, railway monitoring or bridge/tunnel microfractures.
We monitor temperature, strain and acoustic over hundreds of kilometers on terrestrial and subsea fiber optic cable, without any requirement of energy consumption all along the fiber.
We monitor natural disasters and work on carbon capture and storage to act against climate change.
We help the oceanographic experts to better understand the life below water such as fish migration and seismic activity such as earthquake and tsunami.
